2. determine explicit action or sequence of events (SAT 9)
3. draw conclusions from details
4. extract implicit theme or main idea
5. provide support for conclusions
6. discern reality from make-believe
7. identify characteristics of genre
8. select an appropriate reading strategy in a given situation
9. set purpose for reading
10. form hypotheses from ideas in text
11. analyze author’s purpose, assumptions, or viewpoint
12. determine likely source of text
13. determine unknown words from context
14. discern speaker’s voice
15. apply ideas from text to a new situation
16. generalize beyond text
17. determine author’s purpose
18. determine if needed information is within text
